Mauboussin: refined sunglasses since 1827
Mauboussin's story begins in the heart of Paris, where a gentleman named Rocher starts his jewellery workshop in Rue Greneta. Inspired by the zigzagging shapes and the broad curves of Art Deco, the small goldsmith's workshop managed to survive for over forty years. At that time Paris was a melting pot of cultural and creative influences, and Mauboussin took inspiration from it in terms of colours, styles and materials.
It was only in 1883 that Georges Mauboussin, the nephew of one of Rocher's partners, joined as an apprentice jeweller at the age of 21. He was the young pioneer who brought the jewellery to the sparkling Place Vendôme in Paris in 1940. From that moment on, Mauboussin entered the history of luxury accessories, introducing multi-coloured gemstones, watches and sunglasses to enrich his collections.
